How to Price Your Aesthetic Treatments
You’ve done the hard part already. You’ve passed your aesthetician schooling and have taken advanced medical aesthetician courses to increase your earning potential. You have even started building up your own client list and/or have been hired on a med spa or other cosmetic clinic.
But now, you might be wondering, just exactly how much you should be charging for your services? It can be hard to know where to start when trying to price out your treatments. There are numerous questions that can pop up, such as how much are patients willing to pay for medical aesthetic procedures and more. In this post, we will help answer that questions, as well others you may not have already thought of, in an effort to help you maximize your earnings potential. Let’s get started!
Understanding Your Services Value
Medical aesthetic services are popular, in-demand, and therefore hold value. Your job as a medical aesthetician isn’t to be the cheapest option, but rather it is to communicate the value of the services you’re offering, thereby ensuring that you get paid what you are worth.
One of the best ways to set yourself apart from your competition, and create more value for your patients, is to offer various packages. This can be done in a couple of ways. The first, and our recommendation, is to create a custom skincare package and treatment plan for each patient. This custom package for the patient would be put together after an initial consultation, where you’ll understand the patient’s goals, struggles, and budget.
On the other hand, you can also offer pre-made packages, that are priced out for common treatment combinations. An example of a pre-set package might include a set price for microneedling and chemical peels.
Furthermore, you can go a step further and create packages that will create long-lasting patient-provider relationships that are built on trust, results, and value. An example of a package like this might be to create a facial rejuvenation package that includes multiple treatments as well as skin care products for your patient to use at home.
However you decide to build your packages for patients is up to you. The main focus should be, always, to show the value in the packages and services included; not just monetary value but the value in the expected results as well.
How to Price Your Aesthetic Treatments
Determining the actual prices of your treatments requires taking the time to do some research. Some factors that need to be considered when considering pricing include:
- Location
- Local Competition
- Consumer Demand for Treatments
- Income Level in Your Market
By understanding your local area demographics and competition, you will be able to get a grasp on what the high, low, and average price for treatments. This will allow you to focus on creating a pricing structure that will demonstrate the most value in your services to your patients.
While we highlighted creating treatment packages to separate you from your competition, before you can price out packages, you have to know what you would charge for each individual treatment. After doing that, you can then show value in your treatment packages by showcasing how the packages, with multiple treatments included, is a better monetary value for the patients than getting the treatment individually.
